The City of Bariloche is located in an environment covered with tree vegetation. The sectors of native and implanted forests located near the urban area are part of the City's infrastructure, presenting a production of more than 20,000 cubic meters per year of plant waste resulting only from urban pruning, carried out by the Municipality of Bariloche. , in the case of urban trees, and by the neighbors in the case of vegetation within private properties. In addition to this, in recent years, the City has received a significant demographic increase (the population is estimated at 130,000 inhabitants). It is important to mention that this fragmentation of the forest and its occupation by the population brings with it a series of environmental problems, among which the increased risk of forest fires occurring stands out, which is seen as one of the most important, if considers that the majority of fires originate from anthropogenic causes, to which is added the large amount of forest vegetation, the rugged relief, the high temperatures and strong winds during the summer period, all factors that determine a high probability of the spread of the disease. fire and the consequent concern on the part of the responsible institutions, including the Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Service (SPLIF), whose purpose is the execution of all necessary actions for the prevention and extinction of forest fires and the protection of goods and people, taking into account the protection of the environment as an ultimate goal. The purchase of the Industrial Chipiadora and the complementary elements would allow the product of the chipped forest residue to be used in a SUSTAINABLE manner, for heating through a boiler, which would prevent energy from being wasted through the burning of branches and trunks and Instead, take advantage of it to use it as fuel in homes and institutions, while generating a benefit from an environmental point of view, which is the reduction of the risk of fires.
